She has been hiding herself from life and love with meaningless sex with Ronan, her career and music. Very minor BDSM, more smoldering sexual encounters and a heartfelt story all wrapped up into a wonderfully short story. I have to say that it is rare that any writer can pack so much emotion and character connection into an anthology but Annie Calhoun rocked it. Publish Date: December 3, Nov 12, Julie-anne rated it really liked it. Ronan tries to convince Thea she wants more but she doesn't want to hurt her husband's memory so she refuses until Ronan convinces her in quite an original way.

Wish List Jonah thinks Evan is going to propose to him and freaks out, so he creates a wish list of things he thinks he'll miss out on is he marries Evan - most of that list being BDSM in nature. Little does he know, Evan is hiding a dom past so he's happy to fulfill Jonah's wishes but can he make sure it's definitely what Jonah wants without ruining their relationship?

I really enjoyed all three of these stories, the main characters were all likeable and the stories weren't just about sex - don't get me wrong, the sex was the main part but the stories were all well told as well. If you want a nice relationship building story with some very hot sex thrown in there - read this anthology. If you want sex, sex, sex - read this anthology, 'cos there's definitely plenty of it and it's all awesome! Nov 17, Kari rated it liked it Shelves: kindle , Red Hot Holiday is a great anthology filled with some pretty steamy and romantic tales.

All three stories were were well written and enjoyably The first story, Wish List, was sweet story of misunderstanding. Jonah thinks his boyfriend is going to propose to him. In a panic, he makes a wish list of all the things he wishes he could do before he gets ready to commit. Evan is happy to find the list and realizes he can let his true self show through. Jonah and Evan were a great couple, but I was tro Red Hot Holiday is a great anthology filled with some pretty steamy and romantic tales. Jonah and Evan were a great couple, but I was troubled that they were together for so long, yet they weren't honest with each other about their needs.

Their HFN ending was satisfying though. The middle story, Breath on Embers, was the least favorite of mine. Thea has been having an affair with Ronan for a year. She has managed to keep it to just sex, but Ronan wants more. She lost her husband two years before, but she has yet to cry for him or really get heal over the loss of him. Since Ronan and Thea spend much of their time having sex, I didn't really see where he would fall for her other than in lust. But, maybe he saw the potential in her as a mate.

Who knows? Ryan and Megan have been dating for 8 years, but have been living far apart because of their careers. Megan has decided to move to be with Ryan, only he has plans of his own. I loved this one because the couple are so obviously in love and deserve to be together. It was a very sweet story. If you are looking for a great collection of Christmas tales with very steamy loves scenes, this book is for you!

Dec 03, Michele Realitybitesblog rated it really liked it. This book is divided into 3 shorter ones. I will review them as such. Hot scenes that were very descriptive. I felt more connected to Ryan that Meg. Not my favorite out of the three. Breath on Embers by Annie Calhoun I love love loved this short story. Annie was so descriptive and engaging in her writing. I felt it right along with her.

He did everything he could to help Thea and it was so admirable. Vey-Very hot scenes in this book. It will get your blood pumping extremely hard! I loved how they were with one another despite their lack of communication that they needed! Even though this part was extremely short, the author did a great job developing the characters and I felt connected to what happened to them.

I really wanted to punch Jonah…. Overall, all three were good in their own way. This book has a little bit of everything for everyone! Nov 08, Sarah rated it really liked it Shelves: christmas-story , books-i-own-kindle , for-review-read , read-in , netgalley. I have been loving the Christmas themed anthologies again this year and I think that Red Hot Holiday has to be my favourite. The main reason I wanted to read it was for Leah Braemel's story and that one definitely didn't disappoint but I've also found two new to me authors who I'm sure I'll be reading more from in the future.

If you're looking for a selection of spicy holiday reads then you can't go wrong with this one and I'd highly recommend giving it a try. Mitchell - 3 Sta I have been loving the Christmas themed anthologies again this year and I think that Red Hot Holiday has to be my favourite. Mitchell - 3 Stars Jonah and Evan have been together for two years and have a pretty good relationship but when Jonah accidentally stumbles across a pair of wedding rings in Evan's desk he panics.

He loves Evan but the thought of getting married just makes him think of all the things that he'll never get to try if they tie the knot. Jonah creates a wish list containing all of his darkest desires but worries that Evan wouldn't be interested in helping him fulfil them. Evan has noticed how distant Jonah has become but has no idea what is worrying him, until he stumbles across the wish list that is.

Evan couldn't be more surprised that Jonah has secret dreams of submitting to anther man, he has been hiding his own dominant side for years but it looks like they may both be able to live out their wildest fantasies together - if only they can find a way to share their secret wishes. I liked both Jonah and Evan but I think my main problem was that I struggled to believe that they'd been together for so long and yet didn't really know each other that well. I find it hard to believe that someone who is an experienced Dom has been able to be in a relationship for 2 years without letting his dominant tendencies show through in the bedroom - surely his natural behaviour would have come out at some point?

I also felt it was odd that Jonah got in such a panic at the idea of Evan proposing when they seemed to have a pretty strong relationship and had been living together for over a year. I found myself getting very frustrated that they wouldn't talk to each other, Evan at least tried to communicate but Jonah seemed more interested in potentially hooking up with a stranger than talking to the man he was supposed to be in love with.

I did feel that they made a cute couple I just think it would have felt more realistic if they'd known each other for a shorter period of time or perhaps I just needed a longer story to help make things feel more plausible. Either way I did enjoy K. Mitchell's writing style and would definitely like to read a full length novel by her in the future. I Need You for Christmas by Leah Braemel - 5 Stars Ryan and Megan have been a couple for years and are crazy about each other but they are both sick of having a long distance relationship.

When Megan left to follow her dream of becoming a Mountie Ryan had to stay home and look after his younger siblings after his parents died but they have kept their relationship alive with visits as often as they can. Now Megan has had enough of being so far from Ryan, she chased her dream and has spent time working as a Mountie but now she has a more important dream to follow - to spend her life by Ryan's side. Ryan also has plans to surprise Megan this Christmas, now that his siblings are away at college he has the freedom to follow Megan so that they can finally be together.

They're both going to be in for quite a shock come Christmas morning! Leah Braemel was able to create characters that I connected with immediately and even though Ryan and Megan don't get to spend much time together you could tell how much they loved each other and what a perfect couple they were. I loved the fact that they were both so willing to give up their own dreams to put their partner first and I couldn't help smiling at the way they were both making plans behind the others back.

As a Mountie Megan has to be in control of every situation at all times but she loves nothing more than letting her hair down with Ryan and letting him take control. Ryan was pretty much the perfect guy, he was sweet, caring and protective of both Megan and his family, he takes his responsibilities seriously and was someone that you could rely on. At the same time he was artistic, creative, funny and incredibly sexy - the things that man can do with a couple of ropes is guaranteed to make you swoon!

The ultimate feel good Christmas story I Need You for Christmas is a novella that I will be reading again every year because it left me with the biggest smile on my face. Breath on Embers by Anne Calhoun - 4 Stars Since the death of her husband Thea has been locked in her grief and she uses every means possible to block her feelings and remain numb to the world around her. As the second anniversary of his death approaches Thea just wants to hide away from the world and be left alone to lick her wounds. But Ronan knows what she is going through, they have been seeing each other for nearly a year now and although Thea insists that it is just sex between them Ronan knows it is so much more.

He is determined to find a way to break through Thea's tough outer shell and make her rejoin the world of the living, he will do whatever it takes to show her that she isn't as numb as she thinks she is - she's just scared to allow herself to feel again. Breath on Embers is the first story that I've read by Anne Calhoun but I know for sure it won't be the last. This may not be your typical feel good Christmas romance but she has a way of writing that pulled me in and made me feel instantly connected to the characters.

It is impossible not to feel Thea's heartbreak right alongside her but at the same time I knew that with Ronan she had the chance to move forward and be happy again. Ronan is one sexy firefighter and although he never says it outright it is obvious how much he loves her. While she seems determined to keep their relationship on a sex only basis he wants so much more and he knows deep down that she wants that too. The sex between them is incredibly hot but it is about so much more than a physical connection and I loved watching Ronan prove that to Thea.

Breath on Embers is erotica with soul, sexy and intense it will bring tears to your eyes one minute and have you fanning yourself the next but in the end you are left with a feeling of hope and the reminder that life always goes on and no matter how bad things get they do eventually get better. I have to say I'm looking forward to reading more of each. After I got the guys right in my mind, it was an easy book to follow and understand. I loved the characters of Evan and Jonah, even if there were times when Jonah got on my nerves. I was completely blown away by how HOT this book was.

The book overview does a really good job of summing the book up. Jonah accidentally comes across a box containing wedding rings and he automatically thinks Evan is getting ready to propose to him. Jonah and Evan have been together for two years. Me personally, two years and I need a ring and a lifetime commitment. I understand why Jonah freaked out. But instead of talking to Evan, Jonah decides to make a so-called bucket list of things he wants done in the bedroom, and of course he writes it on a piece of paper.

Hey, nothing can go wrong with having something like that on a piece of paper now can it? Evan is the guy everyone wants. He constantly asks Jonah what he wants or what he needs, if everything is okay. Evan finds the paper Jonah wrote his list on. The book boils down to the guys needing to trust each other and to being open and honest with each other. Rating: 4 I really liked it. You can feel the love Ryan and Megan have for each other. Ryan and Megan pretty much had their life together planned out until a horrible car accident changed their lives.

Remarkably, all of this time, Ryan and Megan were able to keep their love for each other alive, even though they were far apart. Now this Christmas, they each plan on giving the other the best Christmas gift ever, themselves. No more lonely nights. No more a week here or there, when they have the time. How romantic is that? Did I mention neither one has told the other about their plans? I really loved both the main characters and most of their supporting cast. Well, maybe I was just a little bit. Did I mention that this book was HOT? I love the fact that they are each willing to give up their dream to be with the one person they love the most.

What could be better than that? Can I just say WOW? This book contains almost every erotic fantasy one could possibly want.

You should definitely be prepared for a cold shower or two. Thea and Ronan are two very likeable characters. I fell for them both immediately. Thea is pretty much "dead" to the world because her husband was killed in a car accident shortly after Thanksgiving two years ago. Thea and her late husband Jesse loved the Christmas holidays. Christmas was a big thing for them and both of their large families. No one understands how hard it is for her to deal with Christmas and the holiday season while she has to watch them go on with their happy lives. They are constantly pushing for her to move back to the city where her hopes, dreams, and pretty much her whole world came to an end.

Ronan knows Thea is using him to avoid dealing with her issues and problems. To a certain extent he is or was okay with that, but not any more. Now he wants more. He thinks they both deserve more. Thea and Ronan are two people who need each other. They met almost two years after Ronan lost his best friend and he is coming out of his own fog, ready to start living again. Thea made Ronan feel alive for the first time in years.

She needs Ronan to teach her how to live and love again, without all of the darkness surrounding her. Everyone remembers the first anniversary without a husband or the first Thanksgiving without a father. I forgot about about the other man, not really. Unbeknownst to Thea, Tim helps to provide the start of the turning point in her life.

Because of him, he realizes what Ronan means to her. I am definitely looking forward to reading more from Anne in the future. Source: NetGalley Nov 10, Lisa rated it really liked it Shelves: earc , kindle. The seemingly straitlaced Evan stum Blindfolds. This one is a male on male holiday erotica. Jonah and Evan are pretty different or so each one thinks. Jonah gets scared when he thinks a set of wedding rings he finds are for him and Evan. That gets him thinking about what he might be missing out on if he and Evan decide to stay together forever.

He makes a wish list of sorts about sexual things he might want to try. Evan mistakenly finds it and decides to try at making some of them come through. When Jonah doesn't know is that Evan can easily fulfill that wish list. Evan was a Dom previously but he buried that part of himself away. Now it looks likes he might not have to. I enjoyed this one but sometimes i wanted to yell at Jonah and say duh?

Can't you see what Evan is trying to show you? Ryan Porter is a sculptor, and beneath his callused hands, even the most rigid metals bend to his will. In this novella Megan and Ryan have been together for years but mostly living apart and sustaining their relationship on visits. Megan is back though with a surprise for Ryan. Problem is Ryan has a surprise for her too. There are some really hot sex scenes in this novella involving a swing, rope and something made of marble. Ah a artist mind is very clever. The love and romance you feel coming off Megan and Ryan is sigh worthy.

Megan being a Mountie is the tough one which is a bit of a flip from the guy being in that roll but it works. I loved both characters so much. Definite red hot read! Lastly we have Breath on Embers by Anne Calhoun. I have not read this author but i will be after reading this novella. I have to admit this one was my favorite. Ronan is a fireman in the city of New York. On St Patrick's day this year he met Thea Moretti. It doesn't take long to look into her eyes and see her pain. Ronan is a rescuer in his heart and has been there done that with grief given his line of work. Thea lost her husband in a terrible car accident and moves from Ohio to New York City to get away from all the memories.

She's only surviving day to day really though. Then comes Ronan into her life. She's using him for sex and escape. He wants more and he wants to help her be whole again the way she did that for him. Ronan is an amazingly patient and giving man. Thea is one tough cookie too but Ronan has to keep chipping at her and showing her it's OK to live again. Love this one. Touch my heart. I was rooting for Ronan and Thea the whole way. Warning there is a menage in this novella. Pretty steamy with Ronan's fellow firefighter Tim.

Now i want to know more about this Tim guy and see a story for him. Overall the whole anthology was well worth reading. You can get a taste of erotica in a few different forms so if you have not tried it this is a awesome place to start. Three super sexy hot reads in one ebook! Find out more on the authors websites. See their individual covers and read excerpts and find out more about their other books. Leah Braemel www. Mitchell www. Nov 23, Nicole rated it really liked it Shelves: smut , anthology , read-in The overall anthology was a great mix of stories.

However, the stories are also so different that some people may not like one versus another. But for me, I thought it was a wonderful mixture of erotic holiday stories. I have a huge girl crush on her, and her stories are always so fun and sexy and fabulous. I can admit that one of the things that drives me bonkers in romance books is big misunderstandings. Especially when huge drama can be avoided by one little conversation. However, in this case, I can see why Jonah was scared to say something. I just wish that maybe he and Evan would have talked sooner than they actually did… I was a little surprised by the lack of sexy times in this book.

It could be because of the novella length, however I was expecting more from Mitchell. It seemed like the majority of this book was spent on the angst of what if. What if Evan and Jonah broke up, what if Jonah shared his list of sexual explorations he wanted to try, what if Evan revealed some of his sexual dominant past, what if Evan proposed and Jonah never got to complete his list. What if, what if, what if. The sexual tension was at an all time high for Mitchell, but it worked within the story.

I have to admit, I was a little bummed with the way that Jonah handled everything. Again, I can see why he was hesitant to come outright and talk to Evan, but he also went a little too far for me. Without giving too much away, Jonah looks for answers to all his kinky questions, and I thought he went about it in a way that felt kinda sleazy. For me, he came dangerously close to crossing a line that would have made his character unredeemable in my eyes. BUT, I was happy with the way it all tied together and ended. The last scene in the book, where they finally connect both physically and emotionally was so intense and so sexy and just so everything.

It really tied together the story and solidified the relationship between Jonah and Evan. It put them on not-so-equal footing, but in a place that was perfect for where they both wanted and needed to be. All in all I really liked this novella. Mitchell kept me on my toes, and kept me guessing as to whether or not I would be able to stick it out with Jonah. As always, reading anything by Mitchell has me panting for more! She does a great job of writing really sexy and yet somewhat subdued light-BDSM romance.

I was pretty intrigued by how serious Megan and Ryan were with their BDSM relationship, and loved the way it played out in their relationship. Especially since Ryan was not very Dom-like in every other aspect of his life, and Megan was a strong and confident cop. It was a great dichotomy to their relationship and I loved it. The one thing every story in this anthology had was some kind of secret or misunderstanding between the main characters.

In this, both Megan and Ryan are ready to move their relationship from long distance to living together. I have to admit, I loved the sexy times in this book. The BDSM aspects were well done, and I never felt like it was forced or that the characters were unsure. The scenes were hot, hot, hot and Megan and Ryan were so perfect for eachother.

They had this wonderful opposites attraction, and I really liked the way it added to their relationship. When it came to outside the bedroom, Megan really seemed to take on the more dominant role, whereas in the bedroom she was a submissive through and through. All in all I thought Braemel was a wonderful edition to the anthology.

It was probably IMO the best novella in the anthology in terms of smoking hot sexy times. Jun 06, Ahmad Okay added it. It was gooooood. Nov 28, H. A lot of back and forth over the holidays, miscommunication and misunderstands threaten their relationship — will Jonah step outside their monogamous pairing so he can get what he thinks he needs?

I have mixed feelings about this story. It was hot in parts, but in other parts, the sex was kind of disturbing.

One scene even struck me as walking over the line between kink and possible injury — a big no-no between consensual adults in a kinky relationship. Growly dominance is one thing; almost drowning your partner in the shower is another. The major flaw with this story is that all of it could have been solved with simple communication. You are in the wrong relationship, and no way should it become long-term, let alone one where your safety could be on the line. Rating: 2.

I think I was extra hard on this story Because I wanted so much to like it! Mountie Megan has been separated from her boyfriend and dominant boyfriend , artist Ryan, while she has been stationed in the far north of Canada. Home for the holidays, she plans to surprise Ryan with the news that she is leaving the Mounties and becoming a local cop so they can be together.

This was another story that gets grating because the conflict could easily be solved by a single conversation. Rating: 3 Full Moons: Good, definitely worth a read. Extra twinkle for steam! Sexy fireman Ronan is ready to take his hot relationship with his lover Thea to the next level. Unfortunately, Thea is still suffering all-encompassing grief from the death of her husband several years before, and she thinks of Ronan as just a way to hide from her pain, like the loud music she likes to listen to constantly in her iPod.

I felt a lot of compassion for both of them, and I was really rooting for them to get together at the end. Loved it, would definitely read next year for the holidays. The kink is very tasty! He's made arrangements to move North to be with Megan… I would have loved more of these two as they burned up the pages when they were together and the support both of them have from his family was sweet to see. Breath on Embers by Annie Calhoun This was my absolute favorite of the 3… Such heat and amazing angst… Loved loved loved this one.

Check back here on December 19th for more about this title and Annie Calhoun. She's alive but not truly living. She buries herself in sex and her blaring iPod rather than dealing with life. She's had a purely sexual thing going with an incredibly sexy firefighter but when he tries to change the rules on her she panics. I understood where she was coming from but it made me sad to see how many walls she put up just to avoid feeling. She's very lucky the man who roars in to her life is understanding enough to want to make it work but I also understood when he stepped back.

He loved her but he couldn't force her to let go and live again.

Ronan was incredibly sexy and has items in his past he has had to deal with so he understood where she was coming from. He pushed her boundaries but also stepped back when he knew he was pushing too hard. I loved him and man oh man I'd take him in a heartbeat if he was real. The menage scene was amazingly erotic but the thing that made me start to weep was when her walls fell and she finally admitted what she felt.

I cannot stress this enough… if anything go grab just this story it is available on its own because it is so worth every second of time it takes to read it. Mitchell What happens when you hit that point in your life where you don't know if you are truly done experimenting and are ready to settle down? Jonah and Evan have been together for two years and when Jonah discovers wedding rings in Evan's desk he freaks out a bit.

I mean what if there are things out there that he hasn't tried but are what he needs to be completely happy… I mean like being dominated, at the mercy of your lover, being taken.. He loves Evan but… He decides to write a list of what he fantasizes about but is afraid to vocalize to his partner.

Evan has been keeping his own secrets… you see he is a closet Dom who has kept this side hidden because he isn't sure he can control it once he lets it out. When he finds Jonah's list he decides to push the relationship a bit without letting Jonah know that he's seen the fantasies. This wasn't my favorite of the anthology but it was a good read. All in all a nice hot anthology which I would recommend just for the Anne Calhoun story. Trust me on this one.. I wanted to smack a couple folk for their behavior Ryan kind of included 'cause while Megan was making a big change in her life, so we he and his involved a heck of a lot of other people having to adjust whereas hers was really just her , but by in large I thought this was a cute story. It was steamy and I appreciated that while Ryan found Megan super-sexy, she wasn't a model type woman playing cop--Braemel clearly described Megan in such a way that she looked the part of a Mountie. There isn't actually much I can say--this was a solid story, the main characters felt pretty well rounded though I couldn't keep the secondary characters quite as straight in my head and thankfully Braemel avoided a tacked on conflict.

The two had a big enough conflict to resolve that anything additional would be extraneous. On the one hand the sex was hot, the characters were conflicted and I was engaged with the struggle that Thea felt. What I had issue with was that I couldn't quite understand why Ronan would keep trying. Quite frankly whether its Thea or its Ronan, neither paints a great picture of her. Thea spends most of the story trying to convince herself that she just wants to sleep with Ronan--well technically she just wants to use Ronan however she feels like whether it be to have sex, go down on him or a makeout session.

Ronan meanwhile spends the story trying to convince her, himself and his best friend Tim that there is so much more to her and that he will bring it out whether she wants it or not. Has she been grieving for a long time? Should she try to move on and get past the guilt she feels over her husband's death because it sounded like survivor's guilt to me more often then not?

But I didn't see progress. For every step forward they take, almost immediately one of them says or thinks that she's shutting down. It got really annoying. What redeeming value did Thea have exactly? Its not like they hung out, or did couple things. Their entire 'relationship' was predicated on the physical. The reversal at the end needed more space to breathe to make me believe that they would work as a couple. As far as stakes go this had bigger stakes then "I Need You For Christmas", but had a much more believable arc then "Breath on Embers".

While on the one hand I knew things would end up positively this is a christmas romance , there was a lot of moments where I doubted that conclusion. These two ran back and forth between rocky and smooth sailing, both with equally understandable reasoning. I rather judge Jonah for some of his actions there was a rather immature lapse in judgement , but Evan too left room for judgement. Really this came down to communication for them. Not just about their desires, but how they viewed their relationship. Neither was entirely certain how serious the other felt--which is a problem.

Then to compound it with silence, aloofness and avoidance That's a recipe for bad moments. The sex was hot--so freaking hot--and I think the story felt genuine. Who wouldn't freak out if they thought they were being proposed to? Especially if they weren't sure how serious the whole relationship was or felt a distance from their partner?

So two stories out of three definitely made this collection worth reading. Heat level is high and the stories are a quick read for anyone needing a bit of steamy diversion. Nov 08, L. We've got reinventing and reaffirming love, conquers-all sweet and spicy love, burning-hot and healing love. I have to admit that for holiday reading I tend to prefer the contemporary stories, there's just something about the magic of holidays that tends to take over the show. Since you can get the stories on their own too, I'll give you a rundown of each, without spoiling the reads, of course.

Their relationship and chemistry had something of an odd vibe, it began by seeming this sweet sort of wonderful thing and developed into something more curious. I can say that it developed and so did they as the story progressed, but the scenario is something of a surprising one: the two lovers actually rediscover each other and add some sumthin-sumthin to their relationship.

The story isn't a transparent happily ever after, it's a more realistic view on people and their dynamics, and it does end in a happy and spicy note. I had mixed feelings about it, because it felt like there was a lot going on there couple-wise and the length of the story might make it somewhat difficult to adjust to. I enjoyed it, but I'll admit my favorite of this anthology was another.

I Need You for Christmas by Leah Braemel told the story of an interesting mix, sweet love with a side of spice. Meg and Ryan felt well developed, I loved how Meg wore all the different layers of her personality and how dedicated and focused Ryan was. They had good chemistry and this really giving kind of love, it was really touching without becoming too much. It was sort of funny how both of them were trying to give maybe too much, if ever there'd be something like an over-giving nature they'd be that, both of them. This was a cool mix of sweet, spicy and touching and I had a good time reading it, but this wasn't my favorite of the anthology either.

Breath on Embers by Annie Calhoun was my favorite. Thea and Ronan had that kind of chemistry and relationship that I completely and totally love, the intense, almost overpowering kind of connection that makes all the important choices for your heart.

See a Problem?

This was the irresistible kind of connection, both for the characters and for me as a reader. It was also a story about the beautifully healing power of love, aside all the smoking hot spicy flair of it all. Thea was complex, the kind of woman it's utterly easy to get lost into, and she found herself the best kind of man, the unrelenting hero.

Plus he's a firefighter, now I dunno about you guys, but I have a thing for uniforms in general, and firefighters are a beautiful example. I loved feeling the effect they had on each other, the way they gravitated towards one another. Looking up Annie Calhoun was an imperative. An awesome collection, all in all, and I do recommend it warmly if you're looking for a hot holiday. Nov 09, Christi Snow rated it really liked it. Ryan and Megan have been dating for at least a couple of years, but because of their careers they live in completely different parts of Canada and only get to see each other a couple of times a year.

They are both tired of it and want to be together. What they don't realize is that each of them have sacrificed their career to surprise the other at Christmas with the fact that they can now live together. This is the first book I've ever read that involved rope play I liked it. Really, incredibly sexy. In fact, there was a lot about this novella that I liked.

I liked the relationship There are great depictions throughout the story of Ryan manipulating his art which provides great ambiance. I want to live there. Overall just a great little Christmas erotic read! I received a complimentary copy of this book in return for an honest review. It was also really sweet, i liked the characters and i felt their chemistry straight away. The story evoked a tonne of emotions in me very quickly, i was hooked for the onset. I think this may be the best short erotic story i have read.

I loved the characters, i was so involved with them during the read. Thea's backstory was so sad, i was so glad she found Ronan. What a fantastically sexy book, if you a looking for a pick me up with some seriously hot Christmas time sex this book is you for! Click here for my book review blog There's so much Jonah Kendrick hasn't tried, and so much he wants to explore.

But just before Christmas he finds a ring box in his boyfriend's desk. Jonah panics. He loves Evan and their sex is hot, but how can Jonah be ready for forever, when there are so many items on his Naughty Bucket List? Desires that might drive Evan away. Evan's noticed Jonah has been distant. His usually talkative and cheerful boyfriend is preoccupied.

The seemingly straitlaced Evan stumbles across Jonah's wish list of sexual kinks, and Evan realizes he may not have to hide his true nature from Jonah after all. The Dom in him wants to see Jonah on his knees, begging, submitting, but Evan isn't sure Jonah's ready to accept what being Evan's sub would mean. The two lovers must figure out how to share their hidden desires with each other before their secrets permanently damage their love. What worked for me and what didn't : I love KA Mitchell stories. I like her style, the way she writes sex scenes and speaking of, in this book - whoa baby!

This one wasn't quite as successful for me as other books, mainly because the conflict was the "big Mis" which is one of my least favourite tropes in the history of tropes. I don't get why people just can't talk to each other. Of course, if Jonah and Evan had've actually communicated, there would have been no reason for the story I liked it but big misunderstandings aren't my favourite. Ahh, KA Mitchell, you certainly do have a way with words.

Family obligations kept Ryan at home, but their love survived the distance thanks to several hot visits. A Mountie always gets her man, and Megan is bound and determined to keep Ryan. What worked for me and what didn't : This was my first Leah Braemel novella. I believe I may have one of her other books on my TBR and if this is typical of her writing, then I think I'll be reading more of her.

You'd think, given what I said above about the KA Mitchell story, that the miscommunication in this story would have bothered me - but it didn't. I think it was that it was more of a gimmick and a fun secret, deliberately kept from one another as a surprise. And, it demonstrated that each of them was fully committed to their relationship and willing to make sacrifices for it.

Ryan and Megan have been doing the long distance relationship thing for a very long time. I felt for them, being separated for long stretches. I respected them for being faithful to each other and for the choices they made at the times they made them. I liked how Ryan didn't expect Megan to give up her dreams for him. I also liked that Megan felt the same way about Ryan. And the sex was very hot. This couple had a connection and it was noticeable right from the start. I always think novellas have a head start when the couple is established from page 1 and this whole anthology is proof of why actually.

Ronan gambles everything and challenges Thea: one night of passion with him and another man. What worked for me and what didn't : The mood of this story was quite different from the other two novellas. This is more serious and bittersweet. Thea is struggling with grief after the death of her husband. She feels numb and that there is a void within. She fills that void with loud metal music and sex with Ronan but she believes she is unable to feel anything and so cannot commit to more. Of course, it isn't that she can't feel, but rather that she chooses not too - partly out of habit and partly out of fear.

Ronan is no stranger to grief and is very patient with Thea while at the same time wanting more from her and pushing, little by little to get it. The menage scene was pretty sexy and it made sense in the context of the story too. The bit where the wall between Thea and her feelings comes down was very moving and I even got a bit teary.

A rare thing in an erotic novella, for me anyway. I'd read Liberating Lacey by this author before so I knew she was a good writer and I had been looking forward to this story. It has a happy ending of course, but I wouldn't call it a happy story - it is, essentially about grief. I liked that it wasn't all hearts and flowers and I liked that Ronan was patient and kind and sexy as all get out. Plus - firefighter. Grade: B Another strong Christmas anthology from Carina press. I recommend. Three short, sexy stories in this anthology. My personal favorite was Breath on Embers by Anne Calhoun.

View all 4 comments. Mitchell 4. She is so readily able to encompass all that I love in a romance — authentic characters, believable conflict and a heavy dose of sexiness! Jonah has certain kinks that he is just now discovering and he is scared to death to tell Evan about them for fear of rejection. When Jonah finds a set of rings that he assumes is for him and Evan, Jonah retreats back into himself, causing Evan to question where he stands in their relationship. I was impressed by the way Mitchell was able to create a conflict within a relationship that has been already established.

She did it in a way that was believable and a little dramatic in this short story. I found myself absolutely glued to the pages and could not put it down! I had to know if Jonah would go through with what he had planned and how Evan would react when he found out. And the sex scenes — oh yes, the sex scenes were another great thing worth sticking around for! All in all, this story was my favorite of the bunch. I loved all the stories — they were amazing! I read the blurb for this novella and just knew that it was right up my alley.

All of the stories in this anthology have very sexy sex scenes, but I think this story really upped up the ante. One thing I immediately noticed was all the Canadian references and naturally, as a Canadian myself, I was stoked about that! Rarely do we see a story set in Canada with all those fun references. Thea Moretti has been a widow for two years. The loss of her husband hit her hard and her will to fully embrace life has yet to come back to her. She wishes to have life exactly the way it is. When her sister tells her great news about her personal life, Thea feels resentment.

How can the world move on without her? But despite this heavy veil she intentionally places between her and the world, there is one person who seems to be able to penetrate her. My one disappointment was that I wished there was a little more light in this book.

Most of it is dark and opening Thea up is a slow process. However, that being said, I still very much enjoyed the way Ronan was there for her without trying to heal her or completely change her. A word on the sex scenes — They are hot! Calhoun weaves miraculous emotions throughout the scenes so that they are infused with passion and emotion. Love her voice and her writing style. Her writing gives me chills sometimes and I found myself flying through this book. Bottom line?

Buy it. You get a bit of everything in each story, but the one similarity is that they are all blisteringly hot and will definitely heat up your holidays. Red Hot Holiday is a collection of three contemporary erotic novellas, all centered around Christmas. Each one offers the reader a different story and I have reviewed them all separately. Breath on Embers by Anne Calhoun 4 stars Steeped in sensual delights, amazingly HOT, a beautiful love story, and a hero who is utterly divine!! The heroine, Thea Moretti, is trapped in the darkness of grief and Red Hot Holiday is a collection of three contemporary erotic novellas, all centered around Christmas.

The heroine, Thea Moretti, is trapped in the darkness of grief and despair. She can't seem to move forward after the car accident that took her husband's life two years earlier. Filling the void, she walks around with her loud rock music constantly blaring from her iPod and having great but meaningless sex with gorgeous Ronan.

This is way more than just another hookup. Their relationship is unique and everything about it is personal, meaningful, and emotional. There is no fix for this. She has to endure it, and somewhere along the line she has to learn to live again. Living is. The setting is New York in the last few weeks before Christmas. This is a love story and each scorching, hot love scene leaves you feeling their intimacy.

Calhoun included one here and she made it work. I highly recommend this to anyone wanting a Sizzling Hot Holiday Romance! Megan Sullivan may be a strong-willed Mountie but she completely succumbs to the will of her artist lover, Ryan Porter, in the bedroom. These two are very much in love and frustrated with their long distance relationship. Seeing each other only two or three times a year is just not enough. Unknown to the other, they each have taken steps to relocate and plan on revealing their little secret at Christmas.

Thinking a proposal is eminent, panic sets in. Outgoing, cheerful Jonah turns into a moody and rather jumpy companion. Not only is he surprised but also somewhat relieved. I think this is one of those that worked for everyone but me. I sincerely apologize to the author. I found him immature in thought and actions. Contemplating view spoiler [cheating hide spoiler ] instead of discussing his needs and concerns caught me off guard.

If you're looking to spice up your holiday reads, you'll want to grab this one. Thank you, it was a pleasure. View all 8 comments. So Hot it's Like Christmas on the Sun! No Remuneration was exchanged and all opinions are my own unless otherwise noted. Description I'll be home for Christmas…to fulfill all your dreams. Mitchell NetGalley. So much so that I can't think of any erotica I have read in six months where it is not in evidence somewhere in the story. Sometimes it feels entirely forced and artificial. In these stories for the most part it is a justifiable part of the story.

Each of these stories is well written, and exhibits excellent editing. I found each story to be longer than I expected. This isn't what you would expect to read to the kiddies around the fire on Christmas Eve. In fact, the stories are so sexy that if you blush easily you might want to read it in private. This is probably the best holiday erotica anthology I've ever read. I really enjoyed it and can highly recommend it to any one who likes to read something naughty for the holidays.

But more than that these are also good, heartfelt stories. There's more to these stories than a ride on a sleigh. Wish List by K. Mitchell This story proves it's not whether a character-couple in a sexual relationship is gay or straight that makes a story hot, it's conflict and relationship that make it interesting and viable and the physical stuff is hot when it's well written and there is something between the characters. This story has internal conflict, relationship and the sex is steamy as all get out.

Well worth my time. Henry's classic Christmas story "Gift of the Magi" where each member of a poor, young couple gives up their most treasured possession to afford a present for the the other. There's a lot of love between Megan and Ryan and they are each interesting and unusual characters. He's dominant but so sweet and in love. Their mutual sacrifices are bigger than those in the O. Henry story, irretrievable things.

But while the surprise is nice there's a communication problem when one member of a couple makes important life changes without talking to the other. Breath on Embers by Anne Calhoun I thought this story contained the most emotive content, the most complex personalities and the hottest erotica in the anthology, as this couple struggles to get past her grief.

I thought this was beautifully written, sweetly sad and at times heartbreaking. Thea is a young widow who has decided to merely exist, not live, after her husband's death. I loved this story and, Anne, if you're reading this, does that lingerie store exist? It took me a while to figure out what the point of Ronan's agreeing to the menage was. There is a moment in that incident where the emotion is so raw and real that it tore right through me.

This was intense! I really loved this contemporary erotic Anthology!! I loved the overall message of keeping the one you love and I really thought all the stories had really well developed characters and the storylines were well executed. It had angst, humour and a lot of yumminess. View 1 comment. Originally published at Reading Reality All the stories in this holiday collection contain extra-spicy sex, but that wasn't necessarily the point. Or at least it wasn't for this reader. I found it interesting that all three stories were about established relationships. There was no porn-without-plot here.

Yes, there was a little kink, but it was really about love, and what worked for these relationships, these people. Breath on Embers wasn't merely my favorite story in this collection, it nearly br Originally published at Reading Reality All the stories in this holiday collection contain extra-spicy sex, but that wasn't necessarily the point. Breath on Embers wasn't merely my favorite story in this collection, it nearly broke my heart. This is a story about someone using noise, any kind of noise; music, work, sex, exercise, to distance herself from terrible, gnawing grief.

Tess lost her husband two years ago this Christmas. He knows where she's been. He's lost comrades on the job. Tess makes him feel alive. He's tired of her using him to help her deaden the pain. He knows they have more. This Christmas he's going to prove to her that there is life on the other side of grief, if she'll only take the first step across the yawning chasm.

This story is awesomely painful. And awesomely beautiful. Henry's classic Christmas story, The Gift of the Magi, with a slightly kinky twist. In today's society, what's the biggest thing you can sacrifice for your lover? Your career? Your dreams. Ryan's dreams were for his art. He's a sculptor, and he's finally starting to sell. Art is always a hit or miss proposition at best, and this is finally his "time". Megan is a Mountie, and that's her dream. The problem is that her dream meant 5 years being posted in Nunavut, while the death of Ryan's parents meant that he had to stay in Toronto as guardian to his young step-siblings.

They're going to college now. So he can leave Toronto, even if being out of civilization may cause difficulties for his career. But Megan has had about enough of being away from Ryan. She's been a Mountie, and she loves it, but she misses him. While she needs to serve and protect, outside of her job, she also needs the freedom of submitting to Ryan in the privacy of their bedroom.

And after the sudden death of Ryan's parents, Ryan knows that no one's tomorrows are guaranteed. Mounties get shot at in the Territories. So they each plan a surprise for the other for Christmas, a surprise that should guarantee they can be together all the time. But there's this little problem with surprises But it's oh so believable, that they want to be together and would do this. Terrific story. Jonah and Evan in Wish List by K. Mitchell don't start out the story being part of the BDSM scene either, but when Jonah discovers a pair of wedding rings hidden in his boyfriend Evan's desk drawer, he starts thinking of all the things he might like to try before he finally takes himself permanantly off the market, and in the "wish list" he makes of things he'd really, really like to experiment with, his imagination conjures up a whole LOT of BDSM ideas, with himself starring in the submissive role.

The only problem is that he can't imagine his relatively buttoned-down, neat-and-tidy lover Evan presiding over those fantasies as the Dom. No matter how much that concept turns him on. And how much he loves Evan and wants him to be the man in his life forever. Little does Jonah know that Evan is a dominant who has been suppressing that side of his nature, because the sex no longer interests him without an emotional component.

When he finds one of Jonah's "wish lists" after it falls out of Jonah's pocket, Evan's need to dominate Jonah comes roaring back to life. Jonah can have everything he wants, and Evan too, if he can just figure out how to ASK for it. This story drove me just a little crazy, because of the communication misunderstandammits that were required to keep it going. But it was still fun. Escape Rating for Wish List: B He includes being a submissive on his list.

I Need You for Christmas by Leah Braemel Ryan quits his job and plans on leaving his home to join his true love while she follows her dreams in the Arctic. Megan has quit her job as a Mountie and has acquired a position as a local police officer. Neither tell each other their plans and both are keeping their secret as their Christmas gift to each other. This is a very steamy, hot romantic love story with minor BDSM. The characters are well written and the story very enjoyable.

Publish Date: December 3, Ronan tries to convince Thea she wants more but she doesn't want to hurt her husband's memory so she refuses until Ronan convinces her in quite an original way.

Red Hot Holiday is a great anthology filled with some pretty steamy and romantic tales.
