During my college stage, I experimented with having my creativity at top priority and with that push I got on a bunch of personal and group projects. I used to finish and share my group projects very proudly, but on the other hand, my personal projects will remain saved on the pages of my notebook or recorded on my phone.
I started to wonder why I felt so ashamed of my ideas and why I kept the projects that I loved hidden behind an empty facade. I realized that I was afraid of not being enough, a fear that came from the depths of my insides and paralyzed me from head to toes. From a place of fear, I made the decision to take the easy way out and just run away a thousand times.
From a place of fear, I stopped raising my hand because my opinion was not important enough to be taken into consideration. From a place of fear, I stopped writing because my lyrics were not interesting enough to be read. From a place of fear, I stopped applying to dream jobs because I was not "good" enough to be selected, whatever "good" means. But, despite it all, the most lethal thing that I've done from a place of fear, was to make the decision not to share my work and my dreams.
I let my fatalistic self-take over, and I became my worst enemy. I started to think that everything could become a complete disaster. I decided not to share anything, knowing that I live in an era when I am a click away from possible allies. But of course, who would want to connect with me or recommend me if I stay silent?
Even to make that decision I needed courage because it represented going against the world -my world-. I would think that I walk through life alone and helpless, but honestly, I have always been surrounded by people willing to help me and let me that I am capable of reaching anything that I set my mind to. I started to reflect on what I have not done by allowing fear to paralyze me and I understand that no project is perfect from the start, that asking for feedback is valuable when moving forward. That, allows me to make mistakes, liberated by the thought that there will always be people more prepared than I am, but I can always learn from them instead of letting them intimidate me.
Courage has opened many doors for me. I got a job that I love and from which I have learned a lot, I am in contact with amazing professionals who are willing to be my mentors, and I put a lot of effort to make my ideas a reality. I started to live with a new perspective. English: Hello! English: Thanks! De pelos. English: Cool.
