Larry Doyle exposes how financial executives, politicians, and even the regulators charged with overseeing the banks have conspired for personal gains while deceiving largely unprotected investors, consumers, and American taxpayers. He details the shocking corruption of the SEC, FINRA, and other "financial police," painting them as meter maids who assess nominal fines and look the other way at even the most egregious abuses.
Most importantly, he unveils the revolving door of Wall Street, where countless regulators and plenty of legislators are former or future employees of the very firms they're tasked with overseeing. Recent bombshells--such as multi-billion dollar trading losses at JP Morgan Chase, the manipulation of interest rates via the LIBOR scandal, and money laundering with North American drug cartels and rogue nations such as Iran--are symptomatic of this corrosive culture, which has decimated consumer and investor confidence.
As the big banks fight tooth and nail to avoid real reforms, this book is a timely, important, and shocking look at a hopelessly compromised system, still defenseless against the next great crash. Language: English. He details the corrupt nature of Wall Street's financial police, who are little more than meter maids imposing fines that amount to nothing more than a slap on the wrist.

Recent bombshells—such as multi-billion dollar trading losses at JP Morgan Chase, the manipulation of interest rates via the LIBOR scandal, and money laundering with North American drug cartels and rogue nations such as Iran—are symptomatic of this corrosive culture and the lack of trust and confidence in the system.
As the big banks fight tooth and nail to avoid real reforms that would protect the economy, this book is a timely, important, and shocking look inside the Washington-Wall Street conspiracy crippling America and the global economy. The interesting angle on this is that's it's written by a true believer, not a raving anarchist looking to put Capitalism Up Against The Wall. He spells out where, how and who did it wrong, names names companies, regulatory agencies and people , and ends with a list of reforms and names of people who would be good at implementing them.
The jargon is kept to minimum, and the trail of evidence is clear. When the capitalists themselves are disgusted, maybe, just maybe, it's time for a change Feb 09, Laura rated it really liked it Shelves: interesting.
I had no hesitation in recommending this book to my daughter, who also found it fascinating. An eye-opening look at our current economic condition and where the US is headed, this book is much more than simply a reflection of the doom and gloom you hear on the news and talk radio. Doyle has facts to back up his statements, and as much as I hate to use the words, this really is something I think any individual wishing to be able to have an informed opinion about the state of our nation should I had no hesitation in recommending this book to my daughter, who also found it fascinating.
